Talking to Yourself...?

The Power of Internal Dialogue

Have you ever noticed that you sometimes have entire conversations in the space of your own mind? Have you caught yourself in moments of difficulty saying, " I don't know if I can do this..." or "I don't want to do this.."  Stop there...
  • Did you know that about 90% of what we tell ourselves is negative...
  • Did you know that some level stress is a natural part of life...
  • Did you know that top performers are top performers because their ability to manage their emotions and internal dialogue in times of stress...

When it comes to top performers, we must remember that they too have moments of feeling anxious and overwhelmed. (Sometimes this idea can be startling, I know... They always seem so cool, calm, and collected.) These are those critical make or break moments, because stress is only what you make of it. Therefore, how you manage stress can determine if you go left or go right. Make the logical decision or a decision based on emotion.

The management of stress strongly correlates with and also includes the management of ones internal dialogue. For those that tolerate stress well, they also have a cohesive and positive internal dialogue (or inner voice). Knowing that the burdens of today do not drive them, but what does are the possibilities of tomorrow.

Even when I have those moments and I catch my inner voice saying, "I can't do this, how is this going to get done/accomplished." I force my logical self to say to my emotional self, "You can do this and You will do this, one step at a time." Ultimately what you tell yourself, it what will be. Because your behavior and internal discussion reflects the values that YOU have pre - determined from within. Therefore speak positively of and about your dreams aloud and watch them manifest.

Who knows you best? You do of course.
